Summaries of the thematic framework of the interventions

The conference is organized in plenary sessions, practical workshops and poster sessions. The papers will focus on the management and opening of research productions - data, protocols, algorithms, computer codes - in Africa, more particularly in French-speaking and Malagasy. They will be articulated around 3 main themes.

Theme 1 - Recommendations and requirements of governments, institutions and research funders for open science

  •   Funding and openness/sharing
  •   Policy and governance
  •   Preservation of scientific digital heritage
  •   Recognition of management and openness activities


Theme 2 - Management, sharing and dissemination mechanisms: practices, benefits, obstacles

  •   Animation or creation of communities of practice
  •   Open repository (repositories of scientific documents, data, protocols, algorithms and computer codes)
  •   Open source vs. Open software (freeware/shareware)
  •   Digitization of scientific resources
  •   Access and tools dedicated to the opening of data, protocols, algorithms, codes and software
  •   Research data management plan (DMP)
  •   Scientific platforms and observatories


Theme 3 - Ethical and legal issues, editorial and business models

  •   Legal and ethical aspects (risks and protections)
  •   Open innovation and associated risks
  •   Policies of publishers, data warehouses and sharing platforms
  •   Publication and digital research production links
  •   Easy to find, Accessible, Interoperable, Reusable (FAIR): FAIRization of digital productions, awareness and                   management training for FAIR sharing
  •   Feedback on the reuse of scientific productions by political, social and economic actors
